My husband had been standing near the window, holding the tiny blue newborn hat he’d brought for our son.
He looked furious.
“My wife just had surgery. She’s asking for medication her doctor prescribed, and you’re calling her a drug addict?”
Colleen turned toward him.
“Glenn, I suggest you lower your voice.”
“I’m not leaving her alone with you.”
“Your behavior is making this situation worse.”
“Then stop making it worse!”
Glenn took a step toward my bed.
Colleen immediately raised her hand.
“Security!”
Two officers appeared in the doorway.
“Wait,” I said. “Please don’t do this.”
Colleen pointed at Glenn.
“He’s becoming aggressive. He’s frightening the patient.”
Glenn looked at her in disbelief.
“I’m her husband!”
“You’re disrupting patient care.”
