I blinked, staring at him in astonishment. “My mother’s estate? But… Dad always said there was nothing left after her medical bills.”
“Your mother was a meticulous woman,” Julian replied, pulling a certified financial audit report from his briefcase. “She foresaw Arthur’s greed decades ago. She set up an airtight secondary trust through a Swiss firm, managed independently. Arthur has been embezzling rental income from three commercial properties in the city center for the past seven years to fund Rachel’s lavish lifestyle and Thomas’s failed real estate ventures. I’ve had forensic accountants tracking every single penny since last Tuesday.”
My jaw dropped. “You… you knew about this before tonight?”
“I knew they were exploiting you,” Julian corrected, his dark eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. “The financial audit was just insurance. I didn’t plan on using it tonight, but when I walked into that house and saw my father—a man who has never struck a stranger in his life—beating a defenseless woman with her own medical equipment… I decided the gloves are off. Arthur is going to spend his golden years facing criminal charges and financial ruin. And Rachel? Rachel is going to lose everything she married into.”
I sat frozen, the magnitude of his words washing over me. For years, I had felt completely powerless, trapped in a house where my very existence was treated as a crime. Now, the man who had once walked away from me to protect his own sanity had returned not just as a refuge, but as an avenging storm.
“Julian,” I whispered, reaching out to touch his sleeve. “What happens next?”

Julian covered my hand with his own, his thumb gently tracing my knuckles. His touch was warm, solid, and entirely real.
“Next,” Julian said quietly, “we go home. My home. And then, we dismantle them piece by piece, until they are begging you for mercy.”
